Comments heard during today's Tea Party...
After the initial sharp intake of breath as they rounded the corner, "LOOK, ANA!!!"
(Keep in mind, I had told them to dress up as best they could.)
(Excitedly) "Mom, is this sugar?"
"Barley, GET AWAY!"
"Oops."
"Mmmm."
"Can you spread some peanut butter on this please, ma'am?"
"Oh no! Gross! Wait, no, it tastes good!" (Referring to a dropping of the cream pitcher, and the mixing of peanut butter and sugar into the "tea" - at this point I felt the tea party was very nearly over...)
"Mom, it's ok if we spill stuff, right?"
Me: "Now, that's not proper at a Tea Party." (Referring to the tall stacking of the tea cups and saucers, the peanut butter in the tea cups, and the brief spat over not sharing the last of the "tea".)
And my favorite: "Hey, Mom, you're our servant."
I love the servant comment. Thomas doesn't need to make comments like that because everyone knows that my sole purpose on earth is to serve him and only him right? This explains the meltdowns he has when I don't attend his every need at the drop of a hat. Your girls are too cute...give us a call sometime when Matt is at work. Thomas LOVES playing with your girls.
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny. Your girls are adorable!
ReplyDeleteOh man Laura - I hope they don't grow up thinking peanut butter really goes in tea cups. I've been dying to take Zara to tea at my favorite tea house, but just haven't got around to it. Maybe if you guys really do come out we could take the girls together?
ReplyDeleteP.S. Haley's outfit is cracking me up - houndstooth with polka dots - awesome!
Laura - oh wow - I almost peed myself reading this! I absolutely love it when you post the girls' conversations! yesss!
